Hello! This blog is dedicated to parents of children who are dealing with a number of challenges associated with ABR hearing testing for their infants and young children. Often, they are advised that this requires sedation and/or general anesthesia or that they need to sleep-deprive or not feed their child prior to testing in order to obtain accurate results.
Good news!
There is no longer any need to subject children to the risks of drug-induced sedation or anesthesia. There is now a safe alternative on the market that is being used successfully in clinics (by doctors of audiology, MDs and ENT specialists), research hospitals and universities in North America and other countries throughout the world. (check http://www.vivosonic.com/)
IT CAN OBTAIN RELIABLE, ACCURATE RESULTS WITH NO SEDATION OR GENERAL ANESTHESIA. The patient can be quietly occupied (looking at a book, watching video with sound off) or held and comforted by the mother--even fed while the testing is carried on.
Even in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) where there are many other devices and monitoring equipment that give off electro-magnetic "noises" and interferences, the system has the ability to filter these and provide an accurate test result.
This system has FDA approval and there are testimonials from parents and health practitioners alike about its quality and the happy experience of avoiding the risks associated with sedation drugs and general anesthesia.
I would welcome hearing from parents and others. I am Kathy and am in "Community Relations" and would be happy to address inquiries and also gather experiences from parents and caregivers about this subject.
Please feel free to comment and/or contact me.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Kathy dimson@vivosonic.com
